How the Presses Work

     

As shown in the picture, the belt presses operate with two filter belt screens that compress solids between them through a series of rollers. Flocculants are applied to the slurry as it enters a head box. The slurry then is spread onto the top moving filter belt screen through a rake, allowing free water to drain away. The solids proceed to drop onto the bottom filter belt screen as the top filter belt screen covers them.

Through the roller system, the polyester filter belts increase the pressure applied to the solids, squeezing water out to drain away from the belt press. The pressure can be adjusted to obtain the optimal percent solids level. The polyester filter belts separate at the end of the roller system. The top belt goes through a belt wash and returns to the head box to be reloaded with slurry. The bottom belt also goes through a belt wash prior to more solids being deposited onto it.

Filter Belt Screen have the characteristics of good water permeability, air permeability and non-revealed sludge, acid-resisting and alkali-resisting. Because of their designing structure, the sludge can be peel off easily from the filter cake, so the screen are easily cleaned and have a long working time.

The filter belt screen is made of strong, water permeable material. The Defeng are manufacturer. The Filter belt screens are 117 inches wide and are capable of processing 30 dry tons of coal tailings per hour. Six presses run continuously and two additional presses are available to maintain production while other presses are down for maintenance.
